	About The American Dream Austin Advocacy Program: The Austin Advocacy Program is designed to empower and lift voices from under-represented communities of Austin whose residents have often been left out of major decisions that affect their lives. The approach, however, is not to advocate on behalf of citizens, but to train people to advocate on their own behalf. The American Dream implements this program through community building, individual empowerment and education, collaboration with community and faith-based organizations and governmental entities. Mission: To empower people to take an active role in determining the direction, quality of life, public policy and leadership in their communities by active participation as citizens and voters. Goals: · Provide forums to bring all stakeholders together to discuss root causes of social problems and identify areas to build strength in their communities · Develop, train, and support core organizing teams in the neighborhoods of these communities · Connect communities to resources to help build strengths For more details about how we provide resources to Neighborhoods which promote sustainable communities for Self Sufficiency visit the Neighborhood Center
